Picture Frame Clock

I got this great idea for a clock from my friend Kelsie{She's super crafty and even has two etsy shops. Here and hereAll you do is find picture frames--I got mine from Goodwill for about a dollar each--and then paint them black.  I added scrapbook paper and little embellishments that I had lying around the house in 8 of them, and then in 12, 3, 6 and 9, I put wedding pictures of my husband and me.  {It is, after all, for our master bedroom}   I found the clock hands online for about 15 dollars.  There are several places that sell them.  All you do is assemble everything, mount it on the wall, add a battery and voila!  Your very own personalized clock for less than $30.  This project was so much fun to make!  Definitely one of my favorites so far!

P.S. Sorry about the crappy lighting. :)

Valentine's Advent

So we all know this one, right?  I saw this here and just had to do it for my hubby!  What you do is make 14 cards (I made 16 because I'm starting tomorrow).  On the back, you write an activity you and your spouse can do together that day.  The point is to bring you closer together in an inexpensive way.  There are lots of ideas listed in the link above.  I seriously did all mine in 45 minutes with my baby getting into everything (e.g. spilling modge podge in my carpet).  It's very easy and really fun!

(I was in a hurry, that's why 15 & 14 are in the wrong places.  Oops!)

Have fun crafting!

Super Easy Bulletin Board

Look at this treasure I found at Goodwill on Saturday for $9.99.

So I decided to make a bulletin board for my kitchen/great room. The following is a list of items needed for this project:

1. Beautiful ornate frame :)

2. Corkboard

3. Spray paint (I used ivory satin from Walmart)

4. Burnt Umber craft paint

5. Hot glue gun

6. Nails and hammer

7. Tacs for bulletin board

I started off with a few coats of spray paint on my frame. After those dried completely I watered down the craft paint a lot and brushed it on. I immediately wiped it off with a paper towel. This brought out all the detail and imperfections.

Then, my hubby cut down the cork board to size and I hot glued into the frame and then added nails as well to strengthen it. That is seriously it! Hang it on the wall and enjoy! Here are some pictures

Lime Meringue Pie!

Okay, so if you like Key Lime Pie, you should like this as well.

Pie Filling
1 ½ cups sugar
3 tablespoons cornstarch
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
Dash salt
3 slightly beaten egg yolks
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
½ teaspoon grated lime peel
1/3 cup lime juice
Use whatever kind of crust you want! My husband whipped up a graham cracker crust for me real quick on this one.

In saucepan, mix sugar, cornstarch, flour and salt. Gradually add hot water, stirring constantly. Cook and stir over moderately high heat until mixture comes to a boil. Reduce heat; cook and stir 2 minutes longer. Remove from heat.
Stir a moderate amount of hot mixture into egg yolks (so the yolk doesn’t cook itself in the pan) then return to hot mixture in the pan. Bring to boil and cook 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Add butter and lime peel. Slowly add lime juice, mixing well. Pour into your crust.

Meringue
3 egg whites
½ teaspoon vanilla
¼ teaspoon cream of tartar
6 tablespoons sugar

Beat egg whites with vanilla and cream of tartar until soft peaks form. Gradually add sugar, beating until stiff and glossy peaks form and all of the sugar is dissolved.
Spread Meringue over pie filling. Bake at 350 for 12-15 minutes or until meringue is golden. Cool. Enjoy!

P.S. If you're not into meringue, just put cool whip on top of the pie because the filling is seriously delish!
